The carpological analyzes of seven sediment samples are the subject of this paper. The analysis concerns a ritual context, a dolium (SU 1225) with its various filling levels, the underlying soil and the sediment outside the container. The samples were subjected to manual flotation and sieving of the residue in running water. Subsequently, the samples were examined entirely under a microscope to recover every macro-botanical element and every archaeological remains. From a carpological point of view, various differences characterize the samples, which contain remains of cereals, pulses, edible fruits and spontaneous herbaceous plants. The upper level of the dolium contains a greater number of fragments of cereals spikelets, wheat in particular, while the level below the dolium contains only the remains of fruit: vines and olive trees. It is important to underline that at the moment, the only olive fragments found in Kainua relate exclusively to ritual contexts.

Abstract
It is important to underline that at the moment, the only olive fragments found in Kainua relate exclusively to ritual contexts.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
