Maritime security has become a priority in light of the recent attacks, perpetrated by the Houthis against merchant vessels transiting the international strait of Bab el Mandeb. These attacks breach the right of continuous and expeditious transit (art. 38, UNCLOS), and violate of the principle of freedom of navigation (art. 45). EU has created the diplomatic-military maritime security operation EUNAVFOR Aspides, aimed at safeguarding freedom of navigation with regard to the Red Sea crisis.

Abstract
Maritime security has become a priority in light of the recent attacks, perpetrated by the Houthis against merchant vessels transiting the international strait of Bab el Mandeb. These attacks breach the right of continuous and expeditious transit (art. 38, UNCLOS), and violate of the principle of freedom of navigation (art. 45). EU has created the diplomatic-military maritime security operation EUNAVFOR Aspides, aimed at safeguarding freedom of navigation with regard to the Red Sea crisis.File in questo prodotto:
