L’impegno postmoderno e la verità della letteratura

This essay – based on the work presented at the «XIV Leonardo Sciascia Colloquium» held in Venice on November 13th and 14th 2023 – reflects on the concept of literary impegno in Sciascia, based on the relationship between the ‘truth’ of the present and history. From there, it reflects on the ’impure’ tension – committed to hybridity between fictionality, nonfiction and autofiction – that underpins the works of the writers of the so-called ‘postmodern engagement’, especially Roberto Saviano. This comparison identifies the differences between two hybrid and engaged writing styles, namely, the link in Sciascia between written page and archive, and the nexus between narration and ‘testimony impact’.
