The paper deals with the properties attributed to the subclass of adjectives known as relational adjectives. The traditional properties attributed to relational adjectives are checked against two very distant languages, Japanese and Arabic, in order to verify their validity, which had been challenged also for European languages. The behaviour relational adjectives manifest in Japanese and Arabic reinforces the idea that there is no need to consider them as a peculiar class of forms.

Abstract
The paper deals with the properties attributed to the subclass of adjectives known as relational adjectives. The traditional properties attributed to relational adjectives are checked against two very distant languages, Japanese and Arabic, in order to verify their validity, which had been challenged also for European languages. The behaviour relational adjectives manifest in Japanese and Arabic reinforces the idea that there is no need to consider them as a peculiar class of forms.File in questo prodotto:
