By looking at the representation strategies in some works by Giulia Nic- colai and Patrizia Vicinelli, two of the most female representatives of Ital- ian experimental literature in the XX century, this article aims to provide a specific interpretation of the estrangement effect produced by the encounter between word, image and the scopic function of both the human eye and optical machines. This mimetic device will be discussed along Walter Ben- jamin’s and Rosalind Krauss’ definition of “optical unconscious”, as well as Franco Vaccari’s notion of “technological unconscious”, thus leading to a possible new heuristic concept: the “techno-scopic unconscious”

Abstract
By looking at the representation strategies in some works by Giulia Nic- colai and Patrizia Vicinelli, two of the most female representatives of Ital- ian experimental literature in the XX century, this article aims to provide a specific interpretation of the estrangement effect produced by the encounter between word, image and the scopic function of both the human eye and optical machines. This mimetic device will be discussed along Walter Ben- jamin’s and Rosalind Krauss’ definition of “optical unconscious”, as well as Franco Vaccari’s notion of “technological unconscious”, thus leading to a possible new heuristic concept: the “techno-scopic unconscious”I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
