With the purpose of initiating a systematic study of the landscape of the Etruscan port of Spina and investigating the internal articulation of the settlement and the relationship between its various functional areas, a new research project of the University of Bologna (EOS Project) has recently been launched. The present contribution aims to outline the methodological premises of the investigation and to present its preliminary results, as well as future prospects. It will focus in particular on the possibilities offered by the analysis of aerial photography and the integration of several non-invasive archaeological methods (remote and proximal sensing, geophysics, field survey) in the geomorphological analysis and in the reconstruction of the ancient landscape.

Abstract
With the purpose of initiating a systematic study of the landscape of the Etruscan port of Spina and investigating the internal articulation of the settlement and the relationship between its various functional areas, a new research project of the University of Bologna (EOS Project) has recently been launched. The present contribution aims to outline the methodological premises of the investigation and to present its preliminary results, as well as future prospects. It will focus in particular on the possibilities offered by the analysis of aerial photography and the integration of several non-invasive archaeological methods (remote and proximal sensing, geophysics, field survey) in the geomorphological analysis and in the reconstruction of the ancient landscape.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
