Fra longobardi e carolingi. Identità e patrimonio di San Salvatore di Brescia nei diplomi regi e nei privilegi pontifici (secoli IX-XII)

The essay offers a long-term analysis of the royal diplomas and papal privileges received by the royal female monastery of San Salvatore of Brescia, preserved in its archive in various forms, both originals and copies. This analysis examines the documentary construction of a changing identity by the monastic community from the mid-11th century onwards – Lombard in the papal privileges and Carolingian in the imperial diplomas – in relation to the monastery’s assets, which were largely composed of royal fiscal properties and also changed over time.
