A 9-year-old girl presented with a history of recurrent episodes of prolonged (about 15 days) fever associated with mild and occasional abdominal pain that have been going on for the past 8 months. To further investigate the source of abdominal pain, a computed tomography of the abdomen was performed. Computed tomography showed a homogeneous-solid mass in the retroperitoneal space, between the superior vena cava and the third portion of the duodenum, measuring 4 × 3 × 2 cm, without colliquation necrosis, surrounded by multiple small mesenteric lymph nodes. Operative resection of the mass was performed and final diagnosis was hyaline-vascular type of localized Castleman disease.

Abstract
A 9-year-old girl presented with a history of recurrent episodes of prolonged (about 15 days) fever associated with mild and occasional abdominal pain that have been going on for the past 8 months. To further investigate the source of abdominal pain, a computed tomography of the abdomen was performed. Computed tomography showed a homogeneous-solid mass in the retroperitoneal space, between the superior vena cava and the third portion of the duodenum, measuring 4 × 3 × 2 cm, without colliquation necrosis, surrounded by multiple small mesenteric lymph nodes. Operative resection of the mass was performed and final diagnosis was hyaline-vascular type of localized Castleman disease.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
