Abstract
The use of 3D model as a research tool is still a relatively new method in the scientific world. The ongoing discussion among the community turned up with many issues like accessibility and preservation of 3D, research traceability or standards for documentation. The development of a digital 3D viewer infrastructure is supposed to offer a permanent infrastructure. On the one hand, it should provide sustainable accessibility as well as archiving of raw data sets and metadata. [3] On the other hand, it should enable collaboration by generating 3D web models from common data types as well as a professional discourse on virtual models. Past years brought many new attempts to tackle different problems related to 3D as a research tool. The presented extension of DFG Viewer (public web service for visualizing digital objects) - DFG 3D-Viewer, answers some of these questions. In the project, we address problems related to the availability of 3D data, resolution of legal issues, low-threshold documentation, and dissemination of 3D models. Although the developed infrastructure focuses on source-based digital reconstructions, we also try to include other domains related to digital heritage in the broader spectrum.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
