The essay focuses on a question: how to inhabit the Anthropocene? In times of catastrophe, the home becomes both a place of protection, of affection and warmth, and an unrecognisable and uninhabitable space. Through the reading of a number of Antonella Anedda’s and Anna Maria Ortese’s texts, interwoven with the reflections of bell hooks, the paper investigates the concept of ‘home’, understood in the restricted sense of dwelling but also in a broader sense such as our planet. Anedda and Ortese, through the use of a bewildering writing able to create spaces at the same time familiar and disturbing, come to terms with the concept of margin, showing that in order to inhabit this house (the Earth), it is necessary to change perspective and revise distances.

Abstract
The essay focuses on a question: how to inhabit the Anthropocene? In times of catastrophe, the home becomes both a place of protection, of affection and warmth, and an unrecognisable and uninhabitable space. Through the reading of a number of Antonella Anedda’s and Anna Maria Ortese’s texts, interwoven with the reflections of bell hooks, the paper investigates the concept of ‘home’, understood in the restricted sense of dwelling but also in a broader sense such as our planet. Anedda and Ortese, through the use of a bewildering writing able to create spaces at the same time familiar and disturbing, come to terms with the concept of margin, showing that in order to inhabit this house (the Earth), it is necessary to change perspective and revise distances.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
