The Municipality of Fara in Sabina - 45 km from Rome - hosts an important monastic community of Franciscan nuns devoted to contemplation, work, and prayer, dating back to 17th Century (Fig. 1). The mummified bodies held in the Monastery of the Hermit Poor Clares of Fara in Sabina have been known for some time, but they are only occasionally mentioned in paleopathological literature. To the best of our knowledge, this collection is not included in the main series of Italian mummies and has never been thoroughly investigated. Actually, it represents a rather numerous series, consisting of extremely well-preserved bodies.
