Founded in 2005 in the Department of History, Culture and Civilization of the University of Bologna, the Laboratorio di Rilievo e Restituzione della Pittura Antica is a permanent workshop for the documentation, study and virtual restoration of the ancient painting mainly, but not exclusively, the mural one. Due its strong relationship with the research projects of the chair of Roman Archaeology and Art History the principal case studies come from the sites around Vesuvius. Its main goal is to form archaeologists able to be autonomous in graphic rendering, as painting experts. During its first twenty years of activity, LaRPA has been developing, and spreading, protocols and procedures, and training over 200 scholars.
