Agency contracts and distribution contracts are commercial contractual schemes that are commonly used by fashion companies to effectively organize their distribution network abroad. This paper analyzes the private international law issues raised by those contracts, in order to allow fashion companies - in the process to expand their business abroad - not only to foresee which will be the court vested with jurisdiction and the law governing the contract if a dispute arises, but also to possibly examine alternative contractual schemes or different commercial strategies for penetrating the targeted market.
