Storia delle emozioni e storia politica. Un dialogo aperto?

This review examines the contribution that the study of emotions has made to political history and suggests further insights into this already fruitful collaboration. Firstly, a brief survey on the historiography of emotions over the last twenty years highlights both the methodological innovations and some problematic issues. Secondly, the study clarifies how, starting with Mosse’s studies, political history has broadened its perspectives and interests, including new keys to interpret the political sphere. This has paved the way for an emotional history of the «political», which will considerably broaden its research horizons through new sources, transnational perspectives, and multidisciplinary approaches.
