Evolution of knowledge about pancreatic cystic neoplasms: A bibliometric analysis

Over the past few decades, our understanding of pancreatic cystic neoplasms (PCNs) has greatly increased. In order to identify contributions to this issue, such as hot topics discussed by academics and the research gaps which still need to be filled, it can be helpful to assess past and present knowledge. This is why bibliometric analysis has recently gained popularity in a range of health-related topics. It is an effective way to complete this task, showing research trends and activity on a given health scenario [ [1] ]. Bibliometric analysis is the process of analyzing scientific metrics using a large amount of bibliographic data derived from large databases, to determine the volume and growth pattern of literature and to identify important research themes, active researchers, and research institutions for future funding and planning [ [2] ].
