In 1566 the humanist physician Caspar Wolf edited the Gynaeciorum libri, a selection of late antique, medieval and contemporary texts of gynaecology in two volumes. This paper provides the first examination of the method he adopted in composing the Harmonia gynaeciorum, the first section of the work, that is a compendium of late antique and early medieval texts of gynaecology. It also aims to identify all the sources of the Harmonia and the manuscripts from which Wolf depends, which appear to be similar to the mss. New York, New York Academy of Medicine, safe and Madrid, Biblioteca Nacional, 4234.

Abstract
In 1566 the humanist physician Caspar Wolf edited the Gynaeciorum libri, a selection of late antique, medieval and contemporary texts of gynaecology in two volumes. This paper provides the first examination of the method he adopted in composing the Harmonia gynaeciorum, the first section of the work, that is a compendium of late antique and early medieval texts of gynaecology. It also aims to identify all the sources of the Harmonia and the manuscripts from which Wolf depends, which appear to be similar to the mss.
