Folliculitis decalvans is a neutrophilic cicatricial alopecia characterized by tufted hairs, pustules and crusts, usually localized in the vertex of the scalp. FD is a rare condition, especially in women, with a remarkable psychosocial impact. It has a chronic and relapsing progress, with challenging management. Its etiopathogenesis remains unclear. Nonetheless, Staphylococcus aureus and the host's immunity response appear to have a key role.
