Non lo conosciamo bene : Censura, versioni e varianti di “Io la conoscevo bene” (Antonio Pietrangeli, 1965)

This essay consists of three parts. The first reconstructs the long and complex censorship process of the film I knew her well (1965) by Antonio Pierangeli, at the origin, among other things, of a double release of the film in Italian cinema theaters, between 1965 and 1966, in two distinct versions whose existence was unknown to the studies. The second part proposes a hypothesis of identifying the variants between the first and second Italian version, comparing the latter and the version distributed in West Germany in 1966. Finally, the third part suggests a critical reading of the masterpiece by Antonio Pierangeli, starting from the film variants compared with the preparatory material and the script variants, studied here for the first time.

Questo saggio si compone di tre parti. La prima ricostruisce il lungo e complesso iter censorio del film Io la conoscevo bene (1965) di Antonio Pietrangeli, all’origine, fra l’altro, di una doppia uscita del film nelle sale italiane, tra il 1965 e il 1966, in due versioni distinte la cui esistenza era ignota agli studi. La seconda propone un’ipotesi di individuazione delle varianti tra la prima e la seconda versione italiana, a partire dal confronto tra quest’ultima e la versione distribuita nella Germania occidentale nel 1966. La terza parte, infine, suggerisce una lettura originale del capolavoro di Antonio Pietrangeli, a partire dalle varianti individuate messe a confronto con le varianti di sceneggiatura, studiate qui per la prima volta.
