Between 16th and 17th centuries, Criminal law undergoes a significant transformation: delicta carnis seem to be a productive field in order to focus some typical dynamics of Justice. In such crimes, honour and private revenge play a significant role that we can investigate through Literature. It discloses social values that legal sources overshadow. This play by Calderón de la Barca, one of the most important dramatist of the period, helps us to understand how people react in case of adulterium or stuprum: the trial is only a possibility.
