The evolution of studies of Near Eastern and Egyptian iconography and iconology has made it possible, based on antiquarian sources, to distinguish the different cultural legacies reflected in the craftsmanship of the various regions. In particular, it is possible to highlight an Achaemenid influence and outline the historical context that allowed the development of these productions in the palatial buildings, where craftsmen from all the territories controlled by the Great King arrived. The centres of the Levant coast were equally affected by these varied artistic trends, spreading the high degree of refinement achieved by the Persian Empire to the Near East, Egypt and the entire Mediterranean basin.

Abstract
The evolution of studies of Near Eastern and Egyptian iconography and iconology has made it possible, based on antiquarian sources, to distinguish the different cultural legacies reflected in the craftsmanship of the various regions. In particular, it is possible to highlight an Achaemenid influence and outline the historical context that allowed the development of these productions in the palatial buildings, where craftsmen from all the territories controlled by the Great King arrived. The centres of the Levant coast were equally affected by these varied artistic trends, spreading the high degree of refinement achieved by the Persian Empire to the Near East, Egypt and the entire Mediterranean basin.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
