The article deals with the socio-spatial outcomes of the establishment, in 1995, of the Inter-Entity Boundary Line in Sarajevo, and the consequent creation ex novo of a Serbian opposite city. The aim is to investigate the implications of the drawing of the boundary on the social and physical structure of the city, arguing that the consequent territorial division in the last twenty years led to the (permanent) fragmentation of the urban space and to the attempt of reaffirming the single national identities.
