Nazione, nazionalismo e folklore. Italia e Germania dell'Ottocento a oggi

The book traces the evolution of the binomial nation and nationalism in Italy and Germany from the cultural foundation of the two nations to neo-nationalism. To this end, it examines the use of folklore for identity purposes, which was an important component of nation-building processes. Starting with the founding of the two nations, the book traces the binomial nation-folklore over two centuries, passing through the rise of mass society and the advent of fascist dictatorships to the link between modern neo-nationalism and populism. Through dialogue with different disciplinary perspectives, the research confirms that nationalism is a ductile ideology capable of adapting to different political contexts and that nation and nation-state have maintained vitality to the present day.

Il volume traccia l’evoluzione del binomio nazione e nazionalismo in Italia e Germania dalla fondazione culturale delle due nazioni fino al neonazionalismo. Per raggiungere questo obiettivo, viene preso in esame l’utilizzo del folklore con finalità identitarie che ha costituito una componente importante dei processi di nation-building. Partendo dalla fondazione delle due nazioni, il volume ripercorre il binomio nazione-folklore lungo l’arco di due secoli, passando attraverso la nascita della società di massa e l’avvento delle dittature fasciste fino ad arrivare al moderno neonazionalismo. Attraverso il dialogo con diverse prospettive disciplinari, la ricerca conferma che il nazionalismo è un’ideologia duttile in grado di adattarsi a diversi contesti politici e che nazione e stato nazione hanno mantenuto vitalità fino ai giorni nostri.
