Detection of partial discharges (PD) with conventional techniques in systems fed by wide bandgap converters is difficult due to the interference of the inverter, which overlaps with PD signals. Analysis in the frequency domain with high pass filtering can be performed to successfully detect the PD activity, but it's not clear if the frequency content of the signals collected is characteristic of the discharge or of the sample under test acting as a transmitting antenna. The analysis of emission spectra from turn-turn motor models (i.e., twisted pairs) of different lengths is performed in this study, showing that it indeed is a characteristic related to the geometric properties of the specimen under test.

Abstract
Detection of partial discharges (PD) with conventional techniques in systems fed by wide bandgap converters is difficult due to the interference of the inverter, which overlaps with PD signals. Analysis in the frequency domain with high pass filtering can be performed to successfully detect the PD activity, but it's not clear if the frequency content of the signals collected is characteristic of the discharge or of the sample under test acting as a transmitting antenna. The analysis of emission spectra from turn-turn motor models (i.e., twisted pairs) of different lengths is performed in this study, showing that it indeed is a characteristic related to the geometric properties of the specimen under test.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
