Moving from a well-known passage by Oscar Wilde, and from the recent Pisanello exhibition in Mantua, the contribution takes into account three canonic issues of the contrast between Late Gothic and Renaissance. The first is the different mental habit towards Antiquity. The second is the problem of unity in space and time. The latter is the way in which, in all medieval art (in which Late Gothic is included), so to say, “matter matters”.
Il testo propone una lettura 'anarchica' della pittura pisanelliana, sulla base di alcuni temi emersi o riemersi in occasione della mostra di Mantova, tra cui la filologicità dell'approccio all'Antico e il problema dello spazio.

Abstract
Moving from a well-known passage by Oscar Wilde, and from the recent Pisanello exhibition in Mantua, the contribution takes into account three canonic issues of the contrast between Late Gothic and Renaissance. The first is the different mental habit towards Antiquity. The second is the problem of unity in space and time. The latter is the way in which, in all medieval art (in which Late Gothic is included), so to say, “matter matters”.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
