Abstract
Computational mathematics studies methods in order to find approximate solutions to problems for which there is no calculable analytical solution. The resulting algorithms are therefore essential for solving numerous problems in a wide variety of application areas. Easy-to-use automatic calculation tools are available (e.g. Excel) to implement these algorithms. However, scientific expertise is of fundamental importance when assessing the effectiveness of different resolution methods and interpreting the significance of the results. Among the different algorithms, the one generated by Newton’s method is effective and easy to understand; its iterative calculation is developed in detail for two applications in an economic contextI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
