I luoghi di traduzione raccontati attraverso le biografie dei traduttori: Il caso di Rijeka/Fiume

Basing on a spatial conception of translation, the contribution suggests using the tool of translator biographies, as elaborated in Translator Studies, to describe places of translation, i.e. places where the fundamental role that languages, translation practices and translators themselves can play in creating a socio-political space and thus also in defining cultural identities becomes particularly evident. The place of translation is in this case the city of Rijeka, described through the biographical paths of translators who lived there during the period when it was under the Hungarian crown of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
