Starting from a general discussion of some methodological problems in language teaching research and teaching practice, this paper focuses on how language teachers perceive the relationship betweenlanguage teaching method and digital technology. Therefore we propose the results of a survey research: In teachers’ perceptions, how much is the teaching method influenced by digital technologies? From the data collected by surveying the perceptions of 328 language teachers balanced according to age and teaching contexts, it emerges a clear preponderance of positive judgements towards digital technologies, a certain focus on the role of the multimodal and playful potential of these technologies, their importance for accessibility, interactivity, student motivation and above all the perception of a methodological value of digital technologies.

Abstract
