L’accueil des patient.e.s francophones dans les institutions de soin en Italie : pour une interprétation des silences

This exploratory study focuses on silences in medical consultations with nine patients from sub-Saharan French-speaking Africa. We will begin by analysing the duration, position and function of silence in question-answer sequences. We will then present a training action enabling the language and health professionals involved to better interpret the pauses, which have only been marginally investigated in the field of dialogue interpreting. By so doing we hope to contribute to a reception of allophone patients that also entails research and action on what is said and not said in healthcare interactions.

Questo studio esplorativo si concentra sui silenzi in nove visite mediche con pazienti dell’Africa francofona subsahariana. Inizieremo analizzando la durata, la posizione e la funzione del silenzio in sequenze di domande e risposte. Presenteremo quindi un’azione formativa che consenta ai/alle professionisti/e della lingua e della salute coinvolti/e di interpretare meglio le pause, solo marginalmente studiate nel campo dell’interpretazione dialogica. Speriamo così di contribuire a un’accoglienza di pazienti allofoni/e che passa anche per la ricerca e l’azione su ciò che si dice e non dice nelle interazioni in ambito socio-sanitario.
