The placebo and nocebo effects are powerful psychobiological phenomena that are influenced by the patient's expectations and the context in which treatment is received. These effects can significantly impact the perception of symptoms and the therapeutic outcome in any medical specialty, including podiatry. In podiatry, the nocebo effect can be particularly relevant due to the painful symptoms and physical limitations associated with foot problems. To prevent the nocebo effect and improve the therapeutic outcome in podiatry, it is important to create a positive therapeutic context and establish a relationship of trust with the patient. Effective communication, transparency, and collaboration between the podiatrist and the patient are essential for success. Additionally, a greater understanding of the neurophysiological mechanisms behind the placebo and nocebo effects will be crucial for advancing the field of podiatry and developing effective strategies for improving the quality of life of patients with foot problems. The clinical, managerial, and educational implications for the podiatry profession also need to be considered to fully realize the potential of these findings.

Abstract
The clinical, managerial, and educational implications for the podiatry profession also need to be considered to fully realize the potential of these findings.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
