A study of some aspects of eighteenth-century English pantheism, examined from an aesthetic point of view and in the light of the relationship between art and nature. The aim is to show how eighteenth-century writers drew not only on the Brunian or Spinozian philosophical inventory, but also on that of ancient and medieval hermeticism, and how a constant reference to social, moral and political aspects was a constant feature of their reflections on pantheism.
