Many recent studies have focused on the various forms of visual deception that images can exert on the viewer. This essay addresses some issues related to the notion of illusion in order to verify the dynamics of the patterns that act on perception under certain conditions. The hypothesis is that they create a series of evaluative compromises with the images from which they originate, in order to aesthetically recover the loss of certainties that they produce on a noetic level. Under these premises, the hermeneutics and ambivalent values that govern the most recent philosophies of the image - oscillating between a conception of representation as an illusory vision or a truthful fiction - have been considered.
