The purpose of this essay is to address some main questions related to the alleged existence of a necessary link between taste and morals, perception and feelings. Furthermore, it aims to consider aesthetic education not only as an acquisition of knowledge in the artistic field or in the more or less recurrent theoretical questions on the agenda of eighteenth-century scholars (the sublime, the picturesque, the genius, the quarrel between the ancient and modern, etc.). Aesthetic education is connected here to a sui generis form of sentimental education.
