The financial and economic crisis was not simply a question of major “market failures” but also a dramatic consequence of deep “institutional (governmental) failures”. This paper endeavours to offer a brief overview of these macro- and micro-prudential inefficiencies, which prevented from first averting and then properly managing, the recent financial crisis.
