An update in the name of continuity The brief essay summarizes the spirit that animated the two editors in updating the Canon Law handbook of their Master, Prof. Giuseppe Dalla Torre. The intent pursued was to make students aware of the most recent and relevant legal provisions that have been promulgated during the latest five years by Pope Francis (which are rapidly illustrated): but always with the aim to harmoniously fit in the linear and sharp flow of the Author’s reasoning. In this way, the update guarantees the inner coherence which alone allows students to grasp and understand the specific identity of the legal system of the Church – even prior to the details of canonical legal solutions – that Giuseppe Dalla Torre was always capable of explaining with unsurpassed clarity and effectiveness.

Nel breve saggio si sintetizza lo spirito che ha animato i due curatori nel procedere all’aggiornamento del manuale di diritto canonico del loro Maestro, il Professor Giuseppe Dalla Torre. L’intento perseguito è stato quello di illustrare agli studenti i più recenti e importanti provvedimenti normativi che sono stati promulgati durante l’ultimo lustro del pontificato di Papa Francesco (i quali vengono rapidamente passati in rassegna): sempre però mirando a inserirsi armoniosamente nel fluire lineare e nitido dei ragionamenti dell’Autore. In questo modo si garantisce quell’intima coerenza che sola permette al discente di cogliere e comprendere, più ancora che il dettaglio delle soluzioni legislative canoniche, l’identità specifica dell’ordinamento giuridico della Chiesa che Giuseppe Dalla Torre ha sempre saputo rendere con una chiarezza e un’efficacia insuperate.
