Monete di età romana dal territorio della Bassa Modenese nel Museo Civico di Finale Emilia: un quadro di sintesi preliminare

The paper focuses on the analysis of a sample group of 248 roman coins from the Republican to the Imperial age, kept in the Archaeological Civic Museum of Finale Emilia. The numismatic materials under investigation correspond to finds from the territories of the current Municipalities of Finale Emilia and Mirandola, mostly recovered through field-surveys carried out by the cultural association R6J6 mainly during 1980s and 1990s. Coins consist almost entirely of copper alloy denominations, of modest or low economic value, datable overall from the beginning of the 2nd century BC to the 4th and the early 5th century AD. In general terms, the numismatic evidence examined appears to be completely in line with the data about coin circulation already recorded for the area of the Bassa Modenese and for the ager Mutinensis.
