There is little doubt about the gradual disappearance of eroticism from the screen in Italy in the cinema of the new century. The reasons are well known: cultural change has redefined the spaces for the representation of sexuality. But what is happening to contemporary Italian cinema? We discover spaces of resistance and difference, linked to particular production forms and singular symbolic discourses. But nothing that makes us imagine a powerful return of widespread eroticism.
