Considering Gertrudis Gómez de Avellaneda and Emilia Pardo Bazán as part of the first Spanish-speaking feminists, this article establishes a thematic connection between their works through the representation that each of them made of the condition of women and the oppressions to which they were subjected, especially those that occurred within marriage.
