Regarding the treatment of women in the funerary spaces of Punic Tharros we do not have enough information to reconstruct a coherent picture. Most of the contexts, in fact, have been altered by clandestine looting. However, some gold jewellery possibly expressing the cult of Astarte, or a similar divine entity, recovered from grave goods allow us to make some considerations about the role of the feminine in Tharros society. In particular, it is possible to detect a connection between the spread of female cults in Tharros and the specific organisation of some grave goods.

Abstract
Regarding the treatment of women in the funerary spaces of Punic Tharros we do not have enough information to reconstruct a coherent picture. Most of the contexts, in fact, have been altered by clandestine looting. However, some gold jewellery possibly expressing the cult of Astarte, or a similar divine entity, recovered from grave goods allow us to make some considerations about the role of the feminine in Tharros society. In particular, it is possible to detect a connection between the spread of female cults in Tharros and the specific organisation of some grave goods.File in questo prodotto:
