Reconsidering the archaeological biography of a Roman city: Bononia and its housing culture: This paper aims to unlock the potential that the archaeological record of Bologna offers for a wider understanding both of this life in the Roman era, from the beginning of the Romanisation process to the Third Century’s crisis, and in this afterlife, through a long history of researches and studies. Systematically reviewing the previous literature and bringing together all available information allows to recognize the most promising lines of enquiry towards a better knowledge of the housing culture of Bononia, in its main phases and in its “longue durée”.: first of all, the direct study of the primary data, i.e. either the material evidence, starting by the analysis of artefacts, and the archival one.
