The auditoria having a shoe box shape are usually employed for mixed uses, including meetings and congress other than live musical performance. As such, the assessment of the main acoustic parameters in line with the standard requirements outlined in ISO 3382-1 indicate an overall acoustic more suitable for speech, to be slightly 'deaf' for music. Besides the evaluation of the acoustic parameter, the analysis has been extended to the interaction of the sound waves against the boundaries of the room. This outcome has been possible by the employment of a spherical array microphone that can detect the directions of the sound rays from any angle. The authors of this paper illustrate also a brief history of the Celebration theatre, including the description of the architectural features that characterize this building.
