Concrete floors are widely used in warehouses and industrial facilities. Because of the massive amount of concrete used for their construction and the great surface exposed to air during curing, these structures can be severely affected by shrinkage. Its effects are influenced by the geometry of the floor, friction of the substrate and environmental conditions. Very often cracks can develop because of shrinkage deformations, causing a decrease of the durability and functionality of the floor. Furthermore, the presence of a shrinkage gradient along the thickness can lead to curling. This paper presents the results of an experimental campaign during which the strains induced by shrinkage in 2 different portions of industrial floors cast with different concretes were measured using strain gauges embedded in concrete.

Abstract
Concrete floors are widely used in warehouses and industrial facilities. Because of the massive amount of concrete used for their construction and the great surface exposed to air during curing, these structures can be severely affected by shrinkage. Its effects are influenced by the geometry of the floor, friction of the substrate and environmental conditions. Very often cracks can develop because of shrinkage deformations, causing a decrease of the durability and functionality of the floor. Furthermore, the presence of a shrinkage gradient along the thickness can lead to curling. This paper presents the results of an experimental campaign during which the strains induced by shrinkage in 2 different portions of industrial floors cast with different concretes were measured using strain gauges embedded in concrete.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
