Defining what practices and visions have led to the multiplicity of contemporary dancing bodies, this essay traces the origins and aesthetic developments of present conceptions of dance. By assimilating the assumptions of postmodern and phenomenological approaches to the study of dance, it also suggests a methodological breakthrough in dance history from a history of the dancing body to a history gesture that might account for the path that has recurrently transferred the heretic artistic visions into the concrete renovation of dance forms.

Abstract
Defining what practices and visions have led to the multiplicity of contemporary dancing bodies, this essay traces the origins and aesthetic developments of present conceptions of dance. By assimilating the assumptions of postmodern and phenomenological approaches to the study of dance, it also suggests a methodological breakthrough in dance history from a history of the dancing body to a history gesture that might account for the path that has recurrently transferred the heretic artistic visions into the concrete renovation of dance forms.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
