In summary, information and recommendations regarding the incidence, diagnosis, medical therapies, and interventional strategies to best manage patients with TBAD continue to evolve and accumulate. To outline evidence based practice recommendations to manage patients with TBAD, the STS/AATS writing group has performed a comprehensive and methodical review and assigned treatment recommendations based upon supportive evidence. There remain gaps in evidence where expert consensus recommendations have been provided in lieu of clinical trials to guide patient management, such as Both associations recognize that the medical evidence will grow and treatment strategies will evolve such that these clinical practice guidelines will require continued revision as more data become available.
