Abstract
In the first stasimon of Euripides’ Cyclops the chorus of Satyrs images Polyphemus in his cave eating Greek sailors arrived together with Odysseus. During this awful meal he seems to use goat-skin for seat: a comparison between this play and the Homeric Odyssey supports this reading. Probably we have to change καινόμενα into κλινομένῳ or better κεκλιμένῳ. On the other hand, we don’t need to suppose a lacking verse at the end of the antistrophe corresponding to v. 360, if we only consider this one as the first verse in the mesode.File in questo prodotto:
