The assessment of residential communities for children and adolescents who can't live in their families, implies the taking into account concepts, like quality and evaluation, that are interdependent but not completely overlapping. Beginning from the wider and more controversial theme of quality in health services, the article deals specifically with the peculiarities of children residential communities. Referring to the perspective of the Developmental Psychopathology the article proposes a multi-dimensional model of evaluation with specific reference to the personprocess- context model elaborated by Bronfenbrenner.
