The sequence of a expressed sequence tag (EST) of 265 bp, isolated from a porcine skeletal muscle cDNA library, corresponding to the porcine DECR1 gene was used to identify polymorphsims by SSCP analysis. Two alleles were identified and analysed by PCR-RFLP in three-generation porcine reference families. Linkage analysis assigned this gene to porcine chromosome 4. Allele frequencies were evaluated in several pig breeds.

Abstract

The sequence of a expressed sequence tag (EST) of 265 bp, isolated from a porcine skeletal muscle cDNA library, corresponding to the porcine DECR1 gene was used to identify polymorphsims by SSCP analysis. Two alleles were identified and analysed by PCR-RFLP in three-generation porcine reference families. Linkage analysis assigned this gene to porcine chromosome 4. Allele frequencies were evaluated in several pig breeds.
