Buone notizie a Scepsi: l’età dei Successori in una città della Troade

This article rehabilitates the evidence provided by the decree issued by the city of Skepsis (OGIS 6) in response to the well-known letter that Antigonos wrote shortly after the peace agreement of 311 (OGIS 5). The decree lights up the history of this city of the Troad in the early years of the Wars of the Successors. The relationship between Skepsis and Antigonos dates back before 311 through the establishment of civic cultic honors, and may be related to events which took place earlier than is usually believed. Part of its success is due to Akios, the envoy of Antigonos bearing good news that Skepsis celebrates with a special ritual.

Questo studio riabilita la testimonianza del decreto di Scepsi (OGIS 6) emanato in risposta alla nota lettera che Antigono scrisse poco dopo l’accordo di pace del 311 (OGIS 5) e ricostruisce la storia di questa città della Troade nei primi anni delle guerre dei Successori. La relazione tra Scepsi e Antigono, il cui inizio si colloca prima del 311 attraverso l’istituzione di onori cultuali civici, potrebbe risalire ad un’epoca precedente a quanto abitualmente ritenuto e deve parte del suo successo ad Akios, l’inviato di Antigono, latore di buone notizie che Scepsi celebra con un rito particolare.
