RECHTSSPRACHENBEZOGENE WISSENSVERMITTLUNG. Zum Einsatz von GeLeCo in der Übersetzerausbildung

Dealing with corpora has become an essential part of translation pedagogy, especially when specialised translation is concerned. This paper shows how the publicly available corpus GeLeCo, which was been created at the Dipartimento di Interpretazione e Traduzione (DIT) of the University of Bologna and consists of German laws, administrative regulations and court decisions, can contribute, given the peculiarities of legal language, to the transfer of legal language-related knowledge and how it can be profitably used for the translation of legal texts from Italian into German. Of particular interest in this context are not only the definitions and collocations of legal terms, but also the lexical-syntactic peculiarities specific to the text types represented in the corpus.
