Filologia germanica. Lingua, storia, cultura, testi

This volume offers the state of the art of scientific research in Germanic philology. It is proposed as a university textbook, but the volume is constructed and deals with very broad topics that go beyond the usual didactic use. It is in fact an innovative work, as it covers the aims of Germanic philology at the beginning of the 21st century, the analysis of aspects of Germanic linguistics, the historical framework of the Germanic peoples, the presentation of the most significant Germanic cultural institutions (law, religion, society, the role of women, etc.) and then goes on to examine literary and textual aspects and, finally, presents the main ecdotal typologies. The volume provides abundant contextualisation of the theoretical aspects by recalling primary sources and, especially for the linguistic discussion, opens up to reflections on translation and multilingualism, which are rarely dealt with in this type of work. The volume closes with an important bibliography, a safe point of reference for in-depth studies and research directions.

Il volume offre il punto della ricerca scientifica della filologia germanica. Si propone come manuale universitario, ma il volume è costruito e tratta argomenti assai vasti, che valicano l'usuale impiego didattico. Si pone, infatti, come opera innovativa poiché contempla gli scopi della lfilologia germanica agli inizi del XXI secolo, l'analisi degli aspetti di linguistica germanica, l'inquadramento storico delle genti germaniche, la presentazione degli istituti culturali germanici più significativi (diritto, religione, società, ruolo della donna ecc.) per poi inoltrarsi nella disamina degli aspetti letterari e testuali e, infine, presenta le principali tipologie ecdotiche. Il volume riporta un'abbondante contestualizzazione degli aspetti teorici richiamando le fonti primarie e, specie per la discussione linguistica, si apre a riflessioni sulla traduzione, il plurilinguismo e il multilinguismo, che raramente sono trattati in questo tipo di opere. Il volume si chiude con un'importante bibliografia, sicuro punto di riferimento per approfondimenti e indirizzi della ricerca.
