Alpha particles emitted in nuclear fuels can represent a neutron source through (α, n) reactions with surrounding nuclei. In the present work, this neutron source is evaluated for the case of uranium hexafluoride: neutron yields as a function of alpha energy and neutron yields integrated over the energy spectrum are given.

Abstract
Alpha particles emitted in nuclear fuels can represent a neutron source through (α, n) reactions with surrounding nuclei. In the present work, this neutron source is evaluated for the case of uranium hexafluoride: neutron yields as a function of alpha energy and neutron yields integrated over the energy spectrum are given.File in questo prodotto:
